“African Brown” does not seem to like my heat and humidity, despite having possibly come from Africa…of course, it may be a part of Africa with dry conditions rather than humid. The gel in this tomato is amazing. It is blood-red, and the juice from the tomato looks like red wine. The flesh is very sweet and the gel is very tart…which is a truly nice combination, as the sweetness lingers. Mine were a bit more globe shaped than oblate, but this may vary somewhat with growing conditions, or perhaps this is just different in the seeds I have from the vendor.
The background for this variety is interesting and unclear. It was said to come from West Africa, but this may or may not be the case, or it may have come from West Africa under another name and then was renamed for sales purposes. Note: 15 seeds per packet
