Caramel Bhut Jolokia is a very hot and wrinkly chile that matures through a series of beautiful colors, one of them being a rich caramel. This version is said to be a “natural variant” of the red Bhut Jolokia. As I wrote of the Peach Bhut Jolokia, I am not sure if that means a bee cross, a segregate from the original hybrid line as it was grown to stability, or a somatic mutation. I have only one photo of a fruit in the green-to-caramel stage. The fruits ripen into a rich brick red to scarlet red eventually. This little fruit in my photo has a rather squashed appearance; however, the other fruits on the plant were of the normal more elongated shape of a Bhut Jolokia. I am not certain that this is completely stable, but it appears in fruit color and shape as I have seen described by other vendors. I will mark it as a developing line though, just in case.
