“Champagne Cherry” is a beautiful tiny cherry tomato, with a translucence that goes from greenish to white and then to creamy yellow. These are smaller than standard cherry tomatoes but can be larger than currant varieties. Some people compare it to Coyote, and indeed, they look extremely similar.
This is what I call a munching tomato. Meaning that they don't often make it indoors because I walk around the garden and munch them. The flavor of Champagne Cherry is different than that of Coyote. I love Coyote because it has a foxy muscat twang to the flavor, but apparently that makes it a love/hate thing. People seem to either love Coyote or hate it. Champagne is sweet, tangy and yummy but does not have that muscat flavor, and many people who don't care for Coyote do like Champagne very much. It produces these juicy, seedy, sweet little delights abundantly, and I recommend this one for people who aren't all that keen on eating cherry tomatoes…it might change their minds.
I want to mention one more thing that seems common to this variety, Coyote, and a number of currant varieties…for some reason they take longer to germinate than my other tomato varieties. Perhaps this is just my own experience, but I will say, if they don't sprout right away…give them a little more time.
