“Coastal Pride Orange” is the creation of Dan and Val McMurray, as a line grown from one of two unnamed hybrids they worked with at the time. This is a dwarf variety that is fairly renowned for its excellent flavor. I have to fall right in line on that consensus. If you like sweet, fruity, tomatoey flavor with plenty of tang, you should acquaint yourself with this variety. Normally productivity is excellent, as the first time I grew Coastal Pride Orange in a pot. This year I had to squeeze it into a row of ground-planted dwarfs, next to my massive blueberry “trees.” I think the “trees” got all of the nutrients, because none of the plants in that row made many fruits or grew their normal height. So, I have very limited stock this season…I will definitely have more next year.
