“Hank” is a rather prosaic name for one of the most beautiful tomatoes I have grown. Pearly pink, reminding me of mother-of-pearl sheen, these are large cherry/saladette sized flattened and scalloped fruits. They are sweet and acid and, of all things, salty. There are not many tomatoes that I feel have a salty flavor, and of course this could be an influence of the soil/fertilizer/watering etc. Very seedy (which I like) with juicy gel…Hank is a very unusual tomato. Hank reportedly comes from the Donald Branscomb collection.
