“Karmen” is a delicious sweet Hungarian treat, with thick walls and crunchy flesh. Not to be confused with the hybrid “Carmen,” this is open pollinated and I believe an heirloom from Budapest.
Fruit set has always been prolific on sturdy, large plants…I have grown this one three seasons. I use it to add sweetness and bulk to my smoked paprika, but I also eat it fresh in any use where I might otherwise use a red bell pepper…such as roasted and sliced then tossed with minced shallots, olive oil, sherry vinegar, and sprinkled with goat cheese.
I was not able to bag but a few blooms, so my stock is limited this season. Restock expected late this summer.
NOTE: Limited stock. 10 seeds per packet.
