“Leatha's Italian” is a big girl tomato who came from a gentleman in Wisconsin. She is a very red-looking pink, but I did confirm the clear epidermis. I probably should have let her ripen more before taking the picture, but these big fruits sometimes develop rotten spots early on in their nooks and crannies in my hot and humid environment.
Anyway, she is scrumptious! If you like sweet meaty maters with a texture that is a little more firm than soft (not hard or crunchy though) and you can grow somewhat late varieties, then you may want to grow Leatha’s Italian.
I don't see this being offered anywhere in the US right now, but I received the seeds from Wintersown in 2013. She was every bit of 85 days for me. I regret that I have so few seeds to offer, but late varieties are very difficult for me to achieve fruits before the heat shuts them down. I probably will not bring Leatha’s Italian back, despite the excellent flavor and texture, because I know that I will get few seeds with a late variety.
