“Alabama Red” okra reminds me much of Texas Hill Country Red. They both have those beautifully chubby and ribbed pods, which when sliced, make gorgeous stars for cornmeal-dipped crunchy fried okra. Alabama Red also sports the red coloration, as though someone had dipped a fan brush in red paint and made delicate swipes down the pods. Perhaps the leaves show less red than Texas Hill Country Red, but I cannot be sure, as I suspect the amount of red varies with the sun exposure. The stems of Alabama Red are wickedly red.
NOTE: International orders must select the “Padded Envelope with Customs Form and Tracking” option during the checkout process. Okra seeds cannot be shipped in plain envelopes, due to crush injury of the seeds without sufficient padding.
