“Cartoloccio OP” is a red plum type of tomato from Italy. I am unsure why there is a designation of “OP” after the name…is there a hybrid of the same name? I found a description on the Vent Marin database (translated): “Bright orange-red fruit from 80 to 100 grams oval to cylindrical elongated….Good productivity. Plant from 180 to 200 centimeters in height with potato leaves. 70 to 75 days. Indeterminate growth. Superb variety from Italy.”
I looked at the photos accompanying this description, at my own photos, and others on the internet, and I would not describe the leaves as true potato. They are those “tweenies” or what some people call a “serrated PL.”
This is a prolific producer. I do not have as many seeds as I would like, because I set my seedling out late and into a 3 gallon pot. I was impressed by what it did churn out, despite the adverse conditions.
Per my notes, my Cartoloccio OP fruits were meaty and firm with somewhat of a grainy texture, which all add up to a great cooking tomato.
