“Edouard” has been called a dwarf variety; however, since it does not have the tree-like growth habit that some have used to define a dwarf, I will call it a compact variety. Under average growing conditions it will reach around 5 feet tall. Mine grew to 3 feet tall and the plants were not massively branched or stocky. Edouard has potato leaves and bears lots of 1.5 to 2 oz red round saladettes. The fruits have a very good strong tomato flavor, more acid than sweet to me, but this may differ for you. Although I cannot obtain an exact history on Edouard, I was able to find that the variety originated in Bretagne, France. This is a nice choice for early varieties that can be grown in a pot. Some have compared it to Stupice.
