“Mere Rosii” is said to be an heirloom from Romania. The name translates to English as “red apple”; however, this is a pink beefsteak. My seed source also confirmed pink fruits. They make squatty to tall beefsteaks to almost blunt hearts at my latitude, with nicely large fruits. My notes state, “All big fruits,” meaning that size stayed uniform rather than the first fruiting being large followed by smaller and smaller fruits. Mere Rosii has thin skin, so it will crack in heavy rain. The cracks are few though, not the corking type. The flesh is turgid (plump and juicy, perfect firmness) and nicely sweet.
