“Murupia Amarela” (Murupi Amarela) is traditionally grown in northern Brazil, and said to be among the spiciest peppers in that area. The appearance reminded me of fat white grubs to use for fishing…that doesn’t sound very appetizing, but they actually make a very pretty, if odd-looking, pepper. The aroma is that of a superhot, and the taste was very hot indeed. I will list it as a superhot; however, some asbestos-tongued chileheads may feel that it is more in the “very hot” sector. My plant was not as tall as some describe, but it covered itself with fruits like hanging lanterns on a Christmas tree.
