Salt Spring Sunrise
“Salt Spring Sunrise” is a somewhat forgotten heirloom. possibly commercial, developed by Jack James, agricultural consultant of Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada, in the 1950s-60s. It is a vigorous and early producer of small red salad globes. The fruits are set in bunches or trusses, and the flavor is quite sweet and tangy, much better than I had expected for an early red small salad variety.
