This green-when-ripe\/bicolor salad is a sister line to two other segregants of the same cross: Bayou Dusk and Bayou Moon. Bayou Moon is the first release in this series and Bayou Sun is the second. The parents in this cross were Green Mustang (GWR beefsteak) x ATVO0102 (beta carotene cocktail from Africa with nematode and bacterial wilt resistance as well as moist heat tolerance). I am highly pleased with the texture and flavor of the Bayou line. Bayou Sun&#8217;s flavor is sweet and robust. These are 4 to 6oz salads, with larger fruits noted by my beta-testers in different climates. Bayou Sun produces very well in my challenging climate.
