A vendor who I believe to be in Germany described this variety as, \u201cThis variety of the multi awarded tomato comes exclusively<br \/>\nfrom the blessed land of Kalamata. The Greek name \u201cChondrokatsari\u201d means fat and curly.\u201d<br \/>\nA number of flattened, somewhat scalloped medium (sometimes larger) red beefsteaks were produced before the plants stopped fruiting in July. My feeling is that it was the humidity\/constant rains that prevented fruit set, not the heat. I did have the hardest time remembering how to spell this variety on my tags and records\u2026for some reason I kept calling it chondromalacia patella (which is NOT the same thing!). This variety does have a tendency for the environmental condition called \u201cpuffiness,\u201d which you can see by the mostly hollow seed cavities in my photo.
