The seedlings were so vigorous that I actually thought this might not be a true micro-dwarf, so I put the seedlings in a huge (25 gallon) grow bag among my other balcony dwarfs. But the dear little things remained short, I believe no more than 12” tall, and they had half shade/half sun daylight hours.

I sliced the first 0.4 ounce fruit open and found the orangey-orange that comes with the tangerine gene. No sign of the pinkish beta-carotene orange or the yellow flesh that looks like an orange tomato from the outside at full ripeness. No, this is a true orange cherry. Not only that, but with the tangerine gene the lycopene is available for absorption without first being broken down by heat or oil. This means that your body can absorb more lycopene from the tangerine gene tomatoes; they are more bioavailable. But don’t take my word for it, look at the science: “With tangerine tomato juice we observed a marked 8.5-fold increase in lycopene bioavailability compared to red tomato juice (P<0.001). Fractional absorption was 47.70 ± 8.81% from tangerine and 4.98 ± 1.92% from red tomato juices” (Cooperstone et al., 2016). My tasting notes read, “Great, GREAT flavor.
