“Louisiana Short” is a prolific bearer of short, fat, tender green pods. I thought that the name referred only to the shortness of the pods; however, the plant itself grew rather stocky. It was not quite as short as a dwarf okra variety; however, the total height was 3’ tall in a 15 gal grow bag in the shade, and 4’ tall, branching, in the ground in the sun. The pods on the shade-grown plant were the most tender, but all are tender when picked young. Louisiana Short is stated to be a Louisiana heirloom, and I am happy to add it to my okra collection.
