“Butterball Cherry” is an abundant producer of large, downright corpulent, golden yellow cherries with very sweet gel and slightly tart flesh. The flesh texture is succulent. This variety is little-known in the United States, so far as I can find. It was previously advertised and sold by the Australian vendor Royston Petrie Seeds. Some describe it as orange; however, when compared with my other orange varieties, it appeared to be a golden yellow. At 0.5 to 1.5 oz, this is one of those varieties where one cherry can make a mouthful. Butterball Cherry grows well even in my heat and humidity. I am adding it to my WOW! list because it has excellent flavor and texture and produces extremely well, even in my climate.
