“Dwarf Russian Swirl” originated from a cross between Golden Dwarf Champion and Orange Russian #117 made by Patrina Nuske Small in 2005 and named Dopey. Dwarf Russian Swirl was selected and named by Craig LeHoullier. The vigorous regular leaf dwarf plants produce excellent yields of smooth oblate yellow tomatoes with red swirls and streaks that range between 6-12 ounces. The flavor is well balanced and tasty, reminiscent of the best indeterminate bicolor types. Involved were Patrina Nuske Small, Ray South, Craig LeHoullier, Jay Scott, Amanda Fischer, Antoniette Koshykar, Mike Mauer, Doug Frank, and Nancy Ruhl. The starting seed sample was grown and provided by Bill Minkey.
