“Blue Beech” is a solid, meaty, sauce tomato of about 6 to 10 ounces. According to Tatiana’s TOMATObase website, “Fedco Seeds received seed from Annette Smith of Blue Beech Farm in Danby, Vermont, and have named the variety in honor of her farm. Mrs. Smith got the tomato from her neighbor’s niece’s uncle who brought it to Vermont from Italy during World War II.” There seems to be some debate as to if this is an indeterminate variety or a determinate variety. I am going with indeterminate according to my own observation. I do wonder if there is more than one version of this variety being circulated, however. It is also reported that Blue Beech does better in cool climates than Roma does.
