“Cappuccino” does not have a history that I can find, but a reputable vendor has been carrying it for several years. The color is AMAZING. My pictures do not do it justice. These are the darkest brown tomatoes I have ever grown. Like cocoa, or dark chocolate, or espresso. Not really as light as a cappuccino. The later fruits, ripening into much greater heat, were more reddish in color.
The flavor is intense. I need to try to describe this. It isn’t sweetie like candy. It isn’t sour or acid. It doesn’t have a musky aftertaste as some of my red cherries do. I have to say that it is like the difference in eating a really excellent quality dark chocolate versus eating Hershey’s milk chocolate. Kids and many of us adults prefer the sweeter, lighter flavor. Some of us, usually not the kids, like that really intense, dark flavor. Not that these taste like chocolate or coffee, for that matter, they are tomatoes. But the flavor is intense and not sugary, although sweetness balances out the acids.
I think that some people will really love it and others will not. What people classify as tasty is quite unique to the individual. I did like it, and I am a person who loves best the sweet and fruity flavors, so I was a bit surprised.
