“Ethiopian Brown Berbere” seeds were given to me by a friend, who bought hers from a well-known vendor, and I am reproducing the vendor’s name and spelling. I say this because I have seen “Ethiopian Brown,” “Brown Berber,” “Brown Berbere,” and “Ethiopian Brown Berber” versions floating around out in seedy-land.
This is a medium hot pepper when well-watered, and can get quite hot when growing conditions are dry and hot. I love the smoky, rich flavor, and I use it to make my most special spicy Paso Doble smoked paprika (shown in photo).
