Ghevichi
$2.70
“Ghevichi” is a micro-dwarf tomato variety from who knows where. Well, one vendor did state that it was “originally bred in Eastern Europe.” I am wondering if that is due to the similarity to the word Ghiveci, which is a traditional Romanian vegetable stew that is rich in flavor and uses tomatoes as a key ingredient. But really, I cannot find any information on who bred this variety or from whence it came to us. What I can tell you is that it produces a true abundance of juicy yellow cherries weighing 0.4 to 0.5 ounces. The fruits have a delicious, sweet and acid flavor, and the tomato taste lingers in the mouth (or it did in mine anyway). My plants grew 12 to 14 inches tall in full sun, in 1-gallon nursery pots. Ghevici was later than Titmouse, but a little earlier than GG’s Glory. NOTE: One packet per order please.
