  • “Purple Boy” micro-dwarf, not the hybrid beefsteak of the same name, apparently just appeared all over online vendor websites with no description of its history or breeding…but I am glad it is here. I wasn’t sure if it was a true micro-dwarf as it seemed to be bigger and it did produce larger fruits, even in a 1-gallon pot, than the true micros I know. But it is determinate and did stop growing around 14” tall. The plants are bushy with dark anthocyanin leaves in cool, bright conditions. Purple Boy reminds me of Tartufo; however, its foliage has deep anthocyanin potential. The leaves turn bright green when summer heat sets in. Purple Boy produces huge red cherries (1.09 oz) with dark anthocyanin coats. The fruits are juicy with excellent firm (not hard or crispy) texture and balanced sweet flavor. Note: One packet per order please.
