  • “Sweet Florida Orange” is my name for a 2 to 5oz pretty little salad tomato. It is orange with beta-carotene, and loads up the indeterminate plant with fruit. It is not related to Peachy Keen. The texture is excellent and the flavor is sweet and strong with beta-carotene taste…some people like this and others do not. I like the beta-carotene varieties myself. Sweet Florida Orange has impressed me with its ability to stay alive and produce fruits in the heat and humidity, even into September. It is very rare for me to find a tomato that does not die by the end of July and also still persistently fruits through the heat and pollen-clumping humidity. This is one that those in the southeast US and Hawaii may really want to try. Sweet Florida Orange appears to be stable; however, I’ve been surprised by tomato genes before; therefore, I will list this as a developing variety.
