Truhart-NR is a sweet, juicy, thick-fleshed sweet pepper of the pimento type. The Agricultural Research Service of the USDA released this variety in 2009. According to an article in the HortScience journal, “‘Truhart-NR’ is a pimento-type cultivar that is homozygous for a dominant gene conditioning a high level of resistance to the southern root-knot nematode [Meloidogyne incognita (Chitwood) Kofoid and White], the peanut root-knot nematode [M. arenaria (Neal) Chitwood], and the tropical root-knot nematode [M. javanica (Treub) Chitwood].” The article gives detailed information about the lineage and plant/fruit specifications: https://doi.org/10.21273/HORTSCI.46.5.815
For my part, I was highly pleased with the quality of the fruit and the productivity in my hot and humid summer garden. It even produced well in full shade, which is something that many of my pepper varieties do not do as well. My photo shows one of my smallest fruits. Early in the season the fruits were much larger. Highly recommended.
