“Chocolate Snacker” is a yummy small chocolate (obviously) sweet pepper, similar in size and shape to the snacking or lunchbox peppers we see in the grocery store. Our friend TimothyT in NC saved seeds from a grocery store purple snacking pepper and found as a result slightly larger BROWN or chocolate fruits from these seeds. A number of adventuresome sweet pepper growers at the Doc and Katie’s Garden Xanadu Forum helped with the growout of this delightfully flavorful highly productive new sweet pepper. One of the growers described Chocolate Snacker as, “…crunchy, very sweet, and fruity-flavored, though I am having a little trouble identifying which fruit(s) it reminds me of – maybe somewhere between apple and pear with faint notes of strawberry? After he said, ‘Mmmmm!’ DH said it reminds him of a very good and sweet ripe bell pepper. The seeds stay firmly attached right up under the stem, so if you’re snacking on it, you can nibble all the way up to the calyx without getting any seeds in your mouth – no waste.” I personally found it to be one of the most productive sweet peppers I have grown. It gave large flushes of fruits at least three times during my spring/summer/fall, only stalling slightly to sulk through July-August as most of my plants do.
NOTE: One packet per order please, these are selling out faster than I ever anticipated!
