“Bernt’s Små Söta” appears to be a variety from Belgium, as a Belgian seed vendor lists it (but I can’t find it sold anywhere else), and a dear friend from Belgium sent the seeds to me. Her description was: “(English translated name) Bernt’s small sweeties, red, currant, 8-18g.” I found the fruits to be rather larger than true currants, but they were seedy and had thin walls. Perhaps this is a currant-type rather than a true currant, or even an heirloom from a long-ago cross of a currant and cherry. It has a nice sweetness but is not as sweet as Matt’s Wild Cherry. There is a good strong tomato flavor. Productivity is excellent.
