“Birdie Jaune” is a pretty little micro-dwarf variety whose seeds I obtained from a kind friend in our tomato forum. I tried twice before to grow Birdie Jaune with seeds from a different source, only to find seedlings that were definitely not micro. It is so wonderful to grow the real thing now! The database Vent Marin states that Birdie Jaune and Birdie Rouge are both varieties from the Netherlands. I have no history other than that right now.
Birdie Jaune has a good tomatoey flavor, as strong as a red cherry, but not especially sweet. I love the sharp little tips at the blossom end. I am hoping to one day find a pink micro cherry in this series.
