“Bonnie Original OP” is an open-pollinated version of what Bonnie Plants list as a hybrid tomato. Our friend Ted of Muddy Bucket Farm listed this variety and I chose to continue his work with seeds from his stock. This is a little workhorse variety, producing plentifully through the season. The fruits are round to oblate (mine became more oblate later in the season) with slight scallops on the shoulders of some and smooth shoulders on others. These are red, juicy slicers of 5 to 8 ounces on indeterminate but somewhat compact plants. My fruits were not overly sweet but had a strong, balanced tomato flavor. Bonnie Original OP is a great variety to grow for reliable tomato with all-purpose use.
