“Mistisa,” also called Mistisang talong, is a fine eggplant variety bred by the University of the Philippines Los Baños. The University describes: “Mistisa is a spreading type eggplant with profuse branching. The leaves are narrow, pale green and slightly serrated. It starts to flower 41 days from transplanting and fruits can be harvested two weeks after flowering. The fruits are striped light violet and cream with thick skin and soft white flesh. Fruit length is 16-20 cm with a diameter of 3-4 cm.‘Mistisa is resistant to bacterial wilt and moderately resistant to phomopsis, and eggplant shoot and fruit borer or EFSB (Leucinoides orbonalis Gueene) and leafhopper (Amrasca biguttula Ishida).”
This is another one of those eggies that just grows so easily in the deep southeast US and I think also would do extremely well in Hawaii.
