“NEMO” is a fantastic variety for the southeast US and other hot climates. It was created by Mr. Bill Jeffers of Evansville, Indiana. I really love this one. NEMO has withstood being planted in the ground here in Bacterial Wilt Metropolis. It is juicy and yummy. It has set fruit in the heat each season that I have grown it. Here is Mr. Jeffers' description:
“Neptune x MoCross (NEMO): Semi-determinate, but productive and short enough to stake or Florida weave, heat set, possibly bacterial wilt resistant/tolerant in some of the recombined lines, good flavor, but not as full flavored as MoCross. Good deep red interior color. Excellent hot set. Early midseason.”
I am listing the F7 generation this year, and the fruits and plant growth habit have not changed since I received the seeds at F3. However, since we are not yet at the F9 generation, I will list NEMO as a developing variety, meaning that you may grow something different in fruit appearance and/or growth habit.
NOTE: Developing line, appearing stable.
