“Yellow Warbler” is an original creation by Bunny Hop Seeds. This is a balcony-sized dwarf, 18 to 24” tall in a very large pot, and shorter in a small pot. Yellow Warbler came from a cross I made of the micro dwarf “Floragold Basket” and the Florida heirloom paste variety “Hawkins Plum.” The result is this beautiful very compact dwarf plant with rugose WISPY leaves and pointed bright yellow elongated fruits. The 1 to 1.5 ounce fruits have a very solid tomatoey flavor at full ripeness. They are too juicy to be a true paste (not high enough pectin) but are great for fresh eating as well as roasting.
The photo of the plant shows the wispy rugose leaves. There is a pepper plant in the same pot behind it, so I cropped the photo to show the height of the tomato plant, without the taller pepper leaves behind it.
I have been impressed by Yellow Warbler’s heat tolerance and ability to set fruit into July and August in my climate. It also seems to have nice resistance to early blight, although I have no proven genetic analysis of this. I highly recommend Yellow Warbler for those who grow in hot, humid climates and want a versatile paste-type fruit produced abundantly on a balcony-sized plant. NOTE: One packet per order please.
