“Purplex Paste” is a new-to-me variety created by Peace Seedlings. They have described it as, “Long lasting hypertresses of red tomatoes with a purple-black blush on dwarf plants.” The humidity in my climate prevents me from getting a true yield on the hypretresses and multiflora types, but folks who have humidity less than 90% in the summer mid-mornings should get lots and lots of fruits. Purplex Paste is a short (determinate) dwarf, 3 feet tall for me in a 7 gallon nursery pot. You could easily grow this variety on the balcony/patio in a pickle bucket or 5-gallon nursery pot. The fruits are 0.5 to 0.75 ounce red plums with a prick-your-finger sharp nipple tip. They also have a lovely purple anthocyanin cap. The flavor is balanced with nice acid, lots of juice and fairly firm flesh, making it a perfect choice for fresh eating but also cooking. NOTE: One packet per order please.
