“Bushy Chabarovsky” is a Russian variety that has been available in the US since at least 2001. It is easy to grow as a short balcony dwarf, reaching between 2 to 2.5 feet high in a large pot or ground, and only about 16″ high when grown in a 1-gal pot, so it could be grown as a micro in a small pot with plenty of vertical space. Bushy Chab is more prolific than any other dwarf I have grown, even Aftershock. The fruits are interesting. They are somewhat fuzzy when green, but as they ripen, the texture becomes more of a soft matte rather than woolly, as some varieties are. A ripe Bushy Chabarovsky is velvety and smooth to the fingertips.
At full dark pink ripeness, the fruits are sweet and soft. I like them best when they are nearly fully ripe, more of the color shown in my photo. The flavor is smooth, sweet, and would be very nice for children to eat. The flesh is smooth and meaty. This is altogether an interesting, tasty, and fun variety to grow.
