Currant Gold Russian
$2.50
“Currant Gold Russian” is a variety whose true name I do not know. I received it in a trade with a wonderful overseas friend. It is a decorative Russian variety that can be grown in hanging baskets, which is how I grew it. The plants are somewhat bushy, but I believe that they are indeterminate to semi-determinate because the vines were at least 3 feet long and the fruiting continued up until the plant died. Fruits are wonderfully cute and tiny. They have a very strong flavor if not overwatered, and were somewhat sweet-tasting to me. My hanging basket was small, no larger than 13”, and this plant did just fine in it. It would easily be controlled by pruning, if shorter branches are desired.
