“Dwarf Sweet Satsuma” is a vigorous producer of sweet orange cocktail-sized fruits. The fruits average 3 to 5 ounces and are set repeatedly on an indeterminate dwarf plant. The origin of this variety was the hybrid “Orange Pixie F1,” which has been grown out by a number of people. My seeds came from a gardening forum friend of mine, TimothyT in NC. Since there are a number of “Orange Pixie OP” versions floating around all over now, it seemed best to name this a specific and different name, since it is a specific and different segregant grown to stability. Something that stood out to me in particular about this variety is its ability to withstand and set fruit in my heat and humidity. It was one of very few tomato plants that was still alive after June 15th, and it actually continued to set fruit. This along with the sweet, yummy flavor and the abundant fruit production has earned it a place in “Ellie’s WOW! List.”
