White Velvet okra is one of the okra types I personally like best…no ridges. The outsides of the pods are smooth and velvety. I know of several varieties with this texture: Red Velvet; Green Velvet (Emerald, Emerald Green, Emerald Green Velvet); Silver Queen; and White Velvet. There may be more. White Velvet is very similar in appearance to Silver Queen. The pods are large and have a silvery-white velvety appearance. Of course you can cook these in any way that you would cook regular ridged okra…it is just a personal liking that I have for this texture that places it high on my list of “okra bests.”
