“Primrose Gage” has the best flavor of the “peachy-appearance” varieties I have tried. And the skin is tacky, not fuzzy…more like Bushy Chabarovsky in skin texture. If allowed to ripen in the heat, there will be a little pink blush on the bottom. The flavor is gentle and somewhat sweet, but there IS flavor with definite acid, not insipid. If over-watered during ripening the flavor will probably wash out to some degree. The variety was gathered from southern India, according to database records, and has been described on the USDA packet as, “Foliage is more glaucous green than that of the ordinary tomato. The primrose-yellow fruit, about the size of a golf ball, has a bloom like that of a grape. It has a sharp sweet flavor which is distinct from that of all other tomatoes.” It liked my climate and had no trouble with the heat or humidity.
